If you have never fenced before, this is the class for you. Basic fencing equipment for the class will be provided. However, you will need to wear long pants (sweats or warm-ups recommended) and court or running shoes. Street shoes are not allowed. Enrolment is limited to ages 12 and up, with a maximum of 12 students. Beginning Foil is not offered every quarter. Please contact the Magnolia Community Center for class availability. (Not offered during Summer Quarter)
If you have completed our beginning class, this is the next step. If you have had basic instruction elsewhere, you may take this class with the instructor's permission. Intermediate fencers are expected to have their own basic equipment: mask, jacket, plastron, glove, knickers or long pants, and practice foil. However, we can rent a basic kit for $30. Enrolment is limited to ages 12 and up, with a maximum of 12 students.
Experienced fencers must have all their own equipment and wear appropriate fencing attire. This includes mask, jacket, plastron, knickers or long pants, glove, and electric gear. We usually have one or two electric strips set up and all weapons are welcome. There are no enrolment limits for Open Fencing.
We offer a single fee for either of the fencing classes or open fencing. When you show up at the Center at the beginning of the quarter, register for the appropriate section and pay the single fee. You may also pre-register by calling the Center at the number below.
The quarterly fee is $75.
Please check the Magnolia Community Center flyer or call (206) 386-4235 to verify times and fees.
Each quarter, the Club meets twice a week, on Monday and Wednesday at the Magnolia Community Center.
Beginning & Intermediate classes start at 7:00 pm and last approximately 1 hour.
Open fencing for experienced fencers begins at 6:30 pm and lasts until the Center closes at 9:00 pm.
